Lockleys North Primary School is a progressive and innovative school focussed on providing our students with the optimal environment in which to learn.

As such, we are always taking our lead from research which informs us of the most effective practices to improve student learning outcomes.  Changes to how we approach teaching and learning will occur from time to time as we learn more about the best ways to cater for our students.

As a school we take a huge amount of pride in ensuring that we provide teaching and learning that caters for every students individual needs, through researched driven pedagogy.

Last Friday Teaching and Learning iNewsletters were distributed to families. These newsletters focus on the everyday operations of the school as well as an extensive outline of how we approach learning at LNPS. Newsletters will have more of a focus on 'how' students will learn and less on the 'what'.

Please use the links below to access the Semester 1 newsletters.

Goal Setting and Learning Conferences

One high impact strategy known to improve learning is personal goal setting.  When students have clarity regarding their next steps, learning is both accelerated and intensified.

Gaol Setting and Learning Conferences to support this approach are occurring with families and students during Weeks 5 and 5 of this term. We have delay by a week due to the staggered return to school.

The purpose of these meetings is to co-construct goals with students and their families and they will be guided by Approaches to Learning references and self-reflection. These goals will run alongside ongoing, targeted goals set in class by students and/or staff which are regularly reviewed and updated.

As per usual, if families have queries regarding their child’s learning at any stage of the year, they are invited to make contact with staff.

Bookings for the meetings are available via the Sentral Parent Portal. If you are having any issues, please contact Vanessa in the office.

The portal will be open for bookings from Friday 12th February until 5pm Friday 19th February.

Staff Leave

Kathy Kite will be taking leave from Week 6 until the end of Week 9. Ash Bruorton will be replacing Kathy. Ash has been working with M1, 2 and 3 over the first 4 weeks and is really looking forward to teaching the M1 students. Goal Setting Conferences in week 6 will be taken by Ash.
