Welcome to Term One!

Welcome

It is hard to believe that we are now halfway through Term 1. Most students have settled into the routines of school and are transitioning well between sessions. We have some busy weeks ahead and look forward to some exciting activities planned for Saint Patrick's Day and Harmony Week. Please note that we have an online mid term parent session planned for this coming Thursday (10th March) at 3.45pm to 4.15pm. This will be an information session, NOT parent-teacher conversations. The zoom links for each homeroom will be sent out later in the week. Grazie!

Religion

In Religion, students have started to explore the Lenten/ Easter season. Last fortnight students rotated around 3 different stations:

Engaging with Scripture - Students explored the scripture story of 'Jesus Prays on the Mount of Olives - Gethsemane'. They discussed important information such as main characters, setting and problems in this story.

Prayer - Students wrote their own Prayers of the Faithful for different sections/ groups (Church Leaders, The Church, The World, Those in Need & Local Community). Here are some of the student's prayers:

Preparing for Lent & Easter - Students explored the 4 ways to prepare for the Lenten/ Easter season, by fasting, praying, almsgiving and penance. To conclude this station, students wrote their own Lenten Promise.

Reading

This fortnight, students have been focusing o the skill of summarising. Summarising is a shortened version of the original text which includes all the main ideas and important details. Students have been practising identifying key words before writing a summary.
