Library News

Welcome back to our Yr 7-10’s!

National Reconciliation Week

Our Library display for National Reconciliation Week 2020 featured a range of books relevant to the theme of reconciliation, and reflecting the National Sorry Day message that reading and learning was one way to “be the change”. This year the theme for NRW was In this Together. “In this together – is now resonating in ways we could not have foreseen when we announced it last year, but it reminds us whether in a crisis or in reconciliation we are all #InThisTogether” (ref. https://www.reconciliation.org.au/national-reconciliation-week/).

Author Fleur Ferris visit Weds 17 June

We’re excited to welcome author Fleur Ferris to our College next Wednesday 17 June.  Our Yr 8 students are studying Ms Ferris’ book, Risk, which was her debut novel published by Penguin Random House in 2015.  Risk was nominated and won numerous awards, was published internationally and became an Australian Top 10 Bestseller. Her books include Nullaboo Hullabaloo, Wreck, Black, and Found (ref. http://www.fleurferris.com/home-1). Ms Ferris will have class sessions with all Yr 8 students and a writing workshop with 10 students from each of Yr 7, 8 and 9.

Beautiful new cushion covers made by our students

Amy Parker, Yr 8, made this beautiful cushion cover for one of our Library cushions, with help from Mrs Williams. While the cushions aren’t out at the moment, when they make a return to the Library space the new covers will be more hygienic and be washed regularly.
