Principal's Report

Dear parents, carers and students,

With the summer break quickly approaching things at school are very busy.  This week there has been two senior/pathways camps, one finishing yesterday and the second camp finishing today.  There are many tired students and staff.  Feedback from both camps has been very positive with new and exciting experiences.  There is a junior camp next week and just this morning one student reminded me it was happening.  On Monday this week the whole upper junior group travelled to Healesville Sanctuary.  Another great experience indicated by the excitement  of the students when they returned. Today there is a swimming carnival with 14 of our students giving it there best shot,  no doubt they will represent Naranga well.

We have started our transition, with students from within the school and students new to the school spending time familiarising themselves with the changes.  Now after two sessions we are all getting to know each other, this will be beneficial for the start of next year.

Dates to remember,  final Student Support Group meeting during the week of December 5-9.  Our graduation night on December 2. State-Wide Transition Day on December 13 and our end of year awards Assembly on December 16.

Child safety and wellbeing at Naranga School: information for families and the school community

The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Naranga School has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our website.  You can find them at this link.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please contact the Principal or Child Safety Officer on 9788 2222.

Other recent school policy updates

Naranga School is scheduled for a School Review in term 1 of 2023.  As part of this process the school is currently undergoing a whole-scale review of all of its policies.  It is important that the school community is aware of our school policies and has the opportunity to provide feedback.  In case you didn't know, all school policies are available to the public on our website, you can find them at this link.

To raise awareness of our policies, each week in the newsletter I will include links to a number of policies which have recently been reviewed and approved.

The latest policies to be added to the website include:

>Yard Duty and Supervision Policy

If you have any questions or feedback regarding these policies or other policies on the website, you can ring or email the school and let me know.
