Principals Report
Hello, my name is John Sciacca and I am the new Principal of McGuire College. As of next year when we become the new College entity my title will be McGuire College (Campus Principal).
I would like to thank Claire Kelly for her time here in the Principal role. We wish her all the best in her new role as Principal at Numurkah Secondary College.
I have been Principal at McGuire College previously in 2009 - 2010 and thank you to all who have made me feel very welcome. My aim is to ensure our current students are well looked after from a Teaching and Learning perspective, but also from a Wellbeing sense as well.
Moving into the transition phase of our new College will mean for us that we will have 400-450 new Year 7 students here, our current Year 7 will move into Year 8. Our current Year 8s will be going to the Mooroopna campus to complete Year 9. Our Senior School students will not be required to move campuses.
The next few years may be different, but be confident that our whole focus will be on making the educational life of our students an exceptional experience.
We have outstanding staff at our College who work tirelessly to provide great learning experiences for your child. I look forward to getting to know the students, parents/guardians and staff. My educational leadership philosophy is that every decision that is made always has the student @ the centre. We are all working collaboratively to improve educational outcomes for all of our students.
Naidoc Week
Thank you to our guest presenter Ester for attending our Naidoc Week School assembly yesterday. Thank you also to Jasmine Mallett, Year 11 VCAL who organised the assembly, Neo Maile our MC, Olivia Gibson and Hariyett Peters for the Welcome to Country. Also thanks to the Choir for their songs. We will share more details in our next newsletter.
Dante Italian Poetry Competition
I would like to congratulate the efforts and achievements of students in Years 8, 9 and 10 who recently participated in the Italian Recitation Competition at The University of Melbourne. We will make a presentation to those students at a later assembly.
Regards
John Sciacca
