Term 3 in Art

Welcome to Art for Term 3 and we have had so much great 'stuff' happening in the Art room already!!!

Show Your West Side Art Exhibition

During Term 2 the amazing Sally Walsh had a fabulous art exhibition called 'Show your West Side' that included many our students work! The show was brilliant, with many of our community going along to the opening night. And the night got even better with Romy Andrews (5SM) winning the primary school section and Elira Sulaj (2CW) winning a highly commended award! Congratulations Romy and Elira we are all so proud of you and EVERYONE who participated!!!

Preps

The students in Prep this term will be working on The Sunflowers painting by Vincent Van Gogh. The students will be experimenting with acrylic paint and using different brushes to develop different techniques with their paint.

Grade 1 through to Grade 5

Over the next few months, the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) have their Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition. The artist is Pierre Bonnard. I thought this would be a great opportunity to do a term study on the artist. The grades will be looking at the life and times of Bonnard and experimenting with different mediums to complete one of his works. I’m hoping to go to the exhibition this weekend for inspiration for this unit!

Grade 6 

The Grade 6 students are creating a 3D sculpture of themselves for graduation. It will be a mixed medium of papier mache, paint and fabric. If possible, could students please bring a shoe box for their body in NEXT week?
