We Need your help

This month our School Council committed to two pieces of work which we believe will make our school a richer and more inclusive learning environment.

Two new groups have been set up which will be made up of staff members, parents and students in order to lead changes in the way that the school builds environmentally sustainable practices and also how we recognise and teach about Indigenous reconciliation.

We would love to hear from any community members who are willing and able to support with this important work.

Our Sustainability sub-committee will formally begin its work at the start of 2021 and will meet each month to review and make suggestions that will make our school a greener, more sustainable place. Following the 'Resource Smart Schools' framework, the group will complete a 'School Environment Management Plan (SEMP)' to audit our current practices and identify key actions that will allow us to gain Resource Smart accreditation.

Any interested parents should contact Allison Shanahan, our school Sustainability co-ordinator on allison.shanahan@education.vic.gov.au

Our Reconciliation Working Party will also commence work in term 1 next year with the aim to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) for SKiPPS. A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is developed in conjunction with Reconciliation Australia and is a formal statement of commitment to reconciliation which contains intended actions to develop relationships, respect and opportunities in the classroom, around the school and with the community.

If any parents are interested in helping us with this work around Reconciliation the  please email both myself on neil.scott@education.vic.gov.au and also Stephen Stanisic, our Reconciliation co-ordinator on stephen.stanisic@education.vic.gov.au
