Keep Australia Beautiful Week

17 - 23 August 2020

This week is Keep Australia Beautiful Week, running from Monday 17th to Sunday 23rd August.  This is an annual event to raise awareness about the simple things we can all do in our daily lives to reduce our impact on the environment and encourage action.

With the unprecedented event of COVID-19, protecting ourselves and families from the spread, has led to drastic changes to the way we live.

However, there are some unintended consequences of this new lifestyle, especially when it comes to the waste we’re producing.

Items like single-use food and beverage containers, face masks, hand sanitizer and gloves are in high demand. All with the potential to end up as litter in our beautiful country.

The students of the environment team have raised this concern amongst themselves. During a webex meeting recently they brainstormed some  ideas to revisit the importance of litter free lunch boxes and promote the use of reusable masks..

Over the next few weeks each class environmental team representative will make a poster to share with the school community. Please have a look at the posters we have shared today, as they have some great ideas and facts.

In Monday's assembly Video, members of the team will present their views on reusable masks, sharing with our school community why it is important to wear them.
