10 VEGETABLES YOU CAN REGROW
Instead of throwing food scraps into the compost why not try to regrow your vegetables. The process is easy to practice. In no time you will have new plants and be able to harvest more vegetables. Why not give it a try?
POTATOES
Cut in half on a plate. Dry out overnight. Plant cut side down eyes up. Make sure you use seed potatoes not sprayed.
GINGER
Soak fresh piece overnight in water. Plant nodes up in the ground in a spot with indirect sunlight.
CELERY
Save the root and cut 5 to 8 cm. Choose a plate with a lip. Add water and sit root in water. Change the water every day. Roots will grow and new growth will appear from the middle. One to Two weeks remove the outer.
SPRING ONION and LEEKS
Cut section 5 to 6 cm with the roots attached. Place in water and within days you will notice regrowth.
LEAFY GREENS
Place 5 to 6 cm length in a bowl with a little water. Change water daily. Once roots form plant out into the ground.
CABBAGE
Keep the bottom 5 cm with the root. Put into a bowl of water. Change water regularly. Re-growth from the tops.
HERBS
Regrow from cuttings. When the herbs start to flower they will create black seeds. Left in the same spot it will self-seed and grow again. If you take a stalk or leaf and place in water, roots will appear in no time to create a new plant.
