Principal's Report

Dear parents, carers and kin,

As we reach the end of semester 1, we've been reflecting on the year.  While we can acknowledge the challenges we've faced, we are all grateful that we've been able to stay learning at school for the entirety of term 1 and 2.  The impact of the pandemic is still with us and it will take time to fully recover.  Naranga School is committed to supporting all of our learners to get back on track with both their personal wellbeing and their learning.

Highlights of the first half of the year for me have included:

-seeing students head off on school camp for the first time in two years

-inter-school sport back up and running

-our Tutor Learning Initiative supporting student progress

-receiving our SWPBS Silver Recognition

-earning another Sustainability Star award

And of course, a huge highlight was the exciting news about the school redevelopment.  The next phase of the project will involve Shaun Bacon and I giving tours of the school to architectural firms over the school holidays.  The objective is to have the architect appointed by the end of July so they can begin work on the master plan.  I will keep the school community informed of how the work progresses.  Thank you to those parents that provided feedback on the building project.  I greatly value your contributions and they were included in the brief for the architect.

Mid year progress reports are on their way home.  Please read through it carefully and discuss it with your child.  You can contact your child's teacher if you have any questions. The mid year report represents a snapshot of progress at the end of semester 1.  Many goals are designed to be achieved over the full four terms so please keep this in mind.  We still have lots of learning to do in the second half of the year!

After feedback from parents and staff, we've adjusted the date of our term 3 Curriculum Day.  The new date is now Tuesday 30th August.  Please note this in your calendars.  Students do not attend school on this day.

Every year schools are required to provide an Annual Report to the school community. The Report highlights the school's performance from the previous school year.  Our 2021 Annual Report has been presented to the School Council is now available for viewing on the school website.

Thank you to our whole school community for your support during a challenging term.  Enjoy the break and see you in term 3.
