News from One/Two

Welcome to week 5… WOW, time flies when you're having fun!

Thank you for all your support with our readers, spelling words, and speaking and listening topics this term. What amazing family pictures the children brought in! Week 6's talking topic is about your child's favourite hobby. Feel free to send photos to my email to support your child's spe.

Thank you also to all of the parents who have volunteered to assist with the 1/2 working bee of our school garden this Friday afternoon. We hope to get our garden looking amazing. The topic of sustainability has been so interesting with the children taking on the stewardship of their school environment, researching biodegradable materials, investigating mini-beasts, and next week planting in the veggie patch. Once the parents have finished their working bee this Friday the garden will be ready to plant in! We have lots of seasonal plants to put in. Here are a few pictures of everyone's hard work.

Here are our children today learning the difference between good and bad rubbish and how to sort it accordingly.

Some of the children have been coming to school without jumpers...how do they even do that on cold days? Please remind them to bring a jumper or look for their jumper if it has been lost. We have a lost property box in our room which also contains lost containers and toys.

In Literacy, over the next couple of weeks, our class will be talking about homophones. Words that sound the same but are spelled differently. If you feel like helping your child with these different spellings here is a link to some fun games https://wordwall.net/en-us/community/homophone-game As you are playing, compare and contrast the meanings of these words and help your children devise strategies for remembering the spellings. Have fun!

Shortly you will receive an email regarding our special ECCOS excursion. Along with the Prep classes the Year 1/2 children will attend an ECCOS educational program to enhance our learning of sustainability. Keep an eye out on Operoo for this event. Here is a sneak peek of our excursion destination http://ecoss.org.au/

All the very best and be in touch if you have any questions.

Kindly,

Jacqui and Terry
