Djeembana

Amy Rashid, Year 9 Djeembana Program

A positive start to the school year, the Djeembana program offers students a

the opportunity to take part in a range of learning experiences. From self defence to fieldwork analysing the biodiversity and management of Braeside Park. With a number of excursions, students have experienced the Botanic Gardens, Melbourne City Mission’s Front Yard and fieldwork exploring Melbourne CBD.

Recently in Term 2, students have explored their entrepreneurial side by participating in the The Project Gen Z incursion which focused on collaboration and social enterprise. Throughout Djeembana, students have broadened their understandings of diversity and inclusion with key speakers and events from the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Minus 18 and Courage to Care. To complete the semester, students will be undertaking First Aid training and participating in Student Led Conferences.
