The Careers Department

The Careers Room is open every lunchtime and is in the Student Management area, at the Holloway Road campus. Students are welcome to come around and browse resources, ask questions, or book an interview.

Year 12

Good News! A range of universities have decided to return to face to face open days. Details of these will be posted closer to the event. Many institutions have been conducting online information sessions or are offering small group tours. Details of these can be found on Compass.

All domestic students applying for courses at the end of the year will need an Australian Tax File number and all students are required to have a USI (unique student identifier).

Information on the Tax File Numbers, USI’s and the UCAT has been posted in the Compass Newsfeed, on the Library noticeboard and in the Careers Team.

Year 11

Early Leaders Program at Swinburne

Build the confidence, skills and network you need to transition to university with ease. The Early Leaders Program is all about preparing you for your future.

The Early Leaders Program (ELP) provides secondary students with the opportunity to be recognised for extra-curricular activities, making themselves attractive candidates for future employers.  The ELP is open to all students who are undertaking Year 11 in 2021.

If you are interested drop into the Careers Room.

Year 10

Year 10 students recently attended the Career Expo at Caulfield Racecourse, as the start of the subject selection process. It was a great day and the students were able to speak to tertiary institution representatives, collect resources and attend a range of informative seminars.

Many students are opting to participate in the Work Experience program this year. The Work Experience dates are June 21st – June 25th. All placements must be finalised by Wednesday June 16th. Any student who would like some assistance in organising a placement can see Deb Hanlen or Marg Forbes.

I have had a busy few weeks interviewing the Year 10 students who wanted to get an early start on subject selection and pathway planning. Very soon I will be visiting the Year 10 classes to clarify the subject selection process and answer any questions relating to VCE subjects and VET course. Several informative resources and links can be found in the Careers folder in the school documentation section of Compass.
