International Day of Families

Below is an excerpt from the link to the United Nations International Day of Families (included below).

The day highlights the importance of all caregivers in families, be it parents, grandparents or siblings and the importance of parental education for the welfare of children. It focuses on good practices for work-family balance to assist parents in their educational and caregiving roles.

School Council News

MPW receives funds for facilities upgrades

It was with great delight to see our school listed as one of the schools receiving funds in the 2017-18 Victorian State Budget announced on Tuesday 2 May. The school will receive $502,000 to upgrade the school's facilities.

Securing funds through the State Budget is a lengthy process that has involved a lot of hard work and strategic planning over a number of years, particularly from Jeff Lyon, Paul Girdler (previous School Council President), the Resources Committee of School Council, parents, teachers and the support of Danny Pearson, MP for Essendon.

In 2015, Jeff brought together a master planning group consisting of parents and teachers to plan for the future capital needs of the school. This included forecasting student enrolments, analysing facility needs, design and building a business case for our growing school. The funds announced on Tuesday were a result of this hard work.

On behalf of the school community I would like to thank Jeff and everyone involved, including the following parents and teachers:

  • Jarrod Smith
  • Maree Marshall
  • Olivia Hrouda
  • Richard Thornton
  • Sara Hastings
  • Stewart Burte
  • Nicole Marshall
  • Mark Paterson
  • Paul Girdler
  • Chris Connelly
  • Sue Phillips
  • Diana Vivian
