Kindergarten

Year 1/2

One of the online Classroom activities for Home learning in 1/2 was to listen and learn a rap. Here is the activity, the task and Albert Green's response:

Learning Intention: We are learning to hear rhythm and rhyme in text.

Green Eggs and Ham.

Can you rap like this?

Listen to the Rap first and then try one yourself. You can record yourself if you like.

I COULD NOT, WOULD NOT, ON A BOAT.

I WILL NOT, WILL NOT, WITH A GOAT.

I WILL NOT EAT THEM IN THE RAIN.

NOT IN THE DARK! NOT IN A TREE!

NOT IN A CAR! YOU LET ME BE!

I DO NOT LIKE THEM IN A BOX.

I DO NOT LIKE THEM WITH A FOX.

I WILL NOT EAT THEM IN A HOUSE.

I DO NOT LIKE THEM WITH A MOUSE.

I DO NOT LIKE THEM HERE OR THERE.

I DO NOT LIKE THEM ANYWHERE!

I DO NOT LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM!

I DO NOT LIKE THEM, SAM-I-AM.

“Hey Mrs Flano”

Look at my piano.

I can play a rap,

Because my fingers tap.

On the old piano

I have to tap really fast

So that my rap will last.

Mrs Flanagan received these fabulous photos from Henry Blomfield for his creative artwork at home.

Hi Mrs Flanagan,

This is a picture of my newspaper man named Neil. It was so much fun to make. He is sitting in my desk watching me do my school work and we put some newspaper hair on him.

Week 2 Art Extension activity:

We are learning about using everyday materials to make a sculpture.

Can you make a newspaper puppet? If this is too hard, you can make anything with a newspaper or other paper e.g. a kite, a hat? Watch this clip to help you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbhyXehruSk&feature=youtu.be

Yr 1/2 is learning how to 'persuade' people with their writing.  Here is Emily Zorgdrager's writing on the topic, 'Should people own pets?'

Topic: Should people own pets?

Arguing: For

Title: Pets.

Overview: People have pets like dogs and cats. Some people don't own pets and I think they should.

Arguments: People should have pets because most pets like dogs keep you safe. Cats keep you safe, too.

If you had a pet bird it could be your wake up alarm.

If you get bored your pet can keep you company like dogs and cats.

Conclusion: People should own pets because they are great to have.

I Never Want To Have This Dinner Again!

I never want to have to eat oyster sauce casserole for dinner again.  It is the most disgusting dinner a child could be expected to stomach!

Oyster sauce casserole is dreadful because it is extremely sweet and the oyster sauce gets all over my vegetables. The meat tastes horrible because it is in the sauce, swimming around on the plate. If I don't eat my dinner Mum gets concerned because she is worried I won’t grow well. I might not grow at all if I have to keep eating that mush!

So, to keep my mum happy, my taste buds happy and my body healthy I hope you will never, ever in the history of the world give me that dinner again.

NEVER!
