Business is booming in the Maths Department!

Read on for some of the exciting activities students have been participating in!

Year 7

Our Year 7 students have been engaged in their model house plan creations. They have been tasked with creating model house plans, allowing them to develop their spatial reasoning skills and apply measurement knowledge in a practical setting. We have been impressed by their ability to showcase creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills throughout the process.

As part of their measurement and trigonometry unit, our year 8 SEAL students have used clinometers to measure the height of trees. This practical application of maths concepts has provided them with an opportunity to enhance their understanding of trigonometry principles. We commend their diligent approach and their ability to apply mathematical concepts in real-world contexts.

Year 9

The Year 9 cohort has been immersing themselves in the realm of financial mathematics. Through an exploration of car purchases and loans, they have gained a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in making financial decisions. Students have also been researching and investing different banks and the products they advertise. This real-world application of mathematics has been equipping them with essential skills related to financial planning and analysis.

Problem Solving Masters in Action

At the senior level, our Year 12 Maths Methods students have been actively engaging in collaborative problem-solving exercises during class time. They have had valuable opportunities to enhance their critical thinking and analytical abilities. We commend their commitment to their studies as they tackle challenging mathematical problems.

Homework Club and Maths Club

Maths Club and Homework Club have both been increasingly popular for the Maths department. Students have been using these times to catch up on work and get extra support as they need it. Well done to all students who have attended so far and taken the opportunity to extend and support their maths learning.
