A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL LYMAN

Dear BAMS Families,

I am happy to report many of our teachers and staff are getting COVID vaccinations and we are certainly moving in the right direction! We anticipate changes to distancing regulations in the coming weeks and that will give us the opportunity to explore additional options for students at school.

We were happy to run some limited winter sports options this winter. Although it was not a normal season by any degree, the kids were able to practice and get a few games in. We also had some students participate in nordic skiing. We thank you for watching games online and appreciate your understanding of the situation. Mr. Myette is currently signing kids up for spring sports! We will be beginning our next BEAMS afterschool session soon. Please look for new opportunities soon. It's a wonderful program.

We anticipate increased opportunities for summer learning this year. We are working on those plans, but we hope to provide important programming for students during the month of July. We know that many kids have had a really difficult time with their social-emotional needs, engagement, and academics. We will be developing plans to help address those major areas.

Parent to School Project

The Parent to School Project is excited to be offering a discussion on the topic of substance abuse education and prevention for the middle school. We would love to have you join us in the conversation, which will be facilitated by Lauren Petrie, our Student Assistance Program Coordinator.

Conferences

I recently emailed links to sign-up for conferences. Please click here for the document. You need to sign-up with your child's adviser. We have 1/2 days on Friday, March 26 and Monday, March 29 for the conferences.

Picture Retakes

We will offer retakes for school pictures this coming Thursday, March 25. Remote students can call the office at 451-3500 to schedule a time to come on Thursday.

The BUHS Booster Club needs new members!

Parent involvement is the key to our success! There are lots of great things we do for our student-athletes, including purchasing varsity jackets, providing camp scholarships, senior scholarships, publishing the sports program and much more. Updated Travel Guidance

From the Covid Coordinator:

During this week's nurse's meeting, we reviewed the most recent guidance posted by the Vermont ACCD website. Upon review, we decided the current daily screening questions that staff and family answer can remain the same. Our screening tool refers to checking with the ACCD site for the latest travel guidance in order to answer the travel question.

Here is the guidance printed out about living near a border town:

A border town is considered a town that is within 5 miles of the Vermont border. Many of Vermont’s border towns are economically and culturally linked to a neighboring state’s border towns. Vermont’s cross state travel guidance allows people to travel between border towns for certain purposes without quarantining. This means that if you are a Vermonter living in a border town or if you live in a border town in a neighboring state, you do not need to quarantine only if:

You travel 5 miles into a neighboring state or into Vermont. You travel to a neighboring state or to Vermont and back home on the same day. You travel for an essential purpose or for an activity that is necessary for your physical or mental health. This includes going to worship, going to a gym, getting a haircut, and participating in place-based outdoor recreation. This does not include activities such as social gatherings, dining at a restaurant or bar, or going to an indoor entertainment venue (for example, a movie theater or bowling alley)

I am fully vaccinated. Do I need to quarantine if I travel to or return to Vermont?

If it has been 14 days since you got your final vaccine dose, you do not need to quarantine when you travel to or return to Vermont. Be sure to carry your COVID-19 vaccine card with you and be prepared to show it when asked.

Anyone who is not vaccinated and travels with you will need to quarantine (including children) and follow the cross state travel guidance when they travel to or return to Vermont. For example, if you are a fully vaccinated parent and travel with your children, your children will need to quarantine when they travel to or return to Vermont.

There are gathering restrictions in Vermont. If you are fully vaccinated, then you can gather with one other household at a time. Learn more about Vermont’s gathering restrictions and exceptions.

If you are a health care worker, check with your employer about any additional requirements.

We recommend that everyone, including people who got the COVID-19 vaccine, continue to follow prevention steps to keep from getting or spreading COVID-19. Learn more about how to keep staying safe
