Principal's Report

Dear parents, carers and students,

Over the last week we have continued to consolidate our programs and activities.  Juniors are enjoying their Community Access program and look forward to this every week.  Our senior and pathways students continue to represent Naranga School at Friday interschool sport.  I hear the many storys of individual and team performances.  I can also see how much fun they are having.  You may have heard we have one pathways student traveling to Germany with the state team with the Special Olympics.  It is always an exciting time when students achieve that level of representation.  I am sure there will be more to hear in the future about this.  Talking of sport,  our students are gearing up for our athletics carnival Wednesday morning next week.  Students are practicing events during the PE classes as well as trying on their house tops for the big event.  Maggie turned one this week and there were lots of celebrations.  Many of the students were excited about this and as a result I think Maggie will sleep all weekend.  Enjoy your long weekend.

Cyber Safe Project

Safety in online environments is a growing concern for both schools and families.  Our students are especially vulnerable to danger when online in gaming, chat rooms or social media apps.  School staff spend countless hours working with students to resolve conflict that has started online.  Naranga School is an eSmart school and takes cyber safety seriously.  We educate our students on staying safe in online environments but also recognise that more help is needed.  For these reasons, Naranga has partnered with the Cyber Safe Project with the following objectives:

-to develop more curriculum materials to educate our students about cyber safety

-provide guest speakers to promote the cyber safety message with students

-present to our parents and carers on how they can help promote safe online behaviours

-support safe online behaviours for all of our students

I'll provide more information soon on how you can become more informed and promote the cyber safety message at home.

School Review

Naranga School will be undergoing a School Review this term.  The Review begins on March 14.  It examines all elements of our practice as a school and sets targets for our next four year School Strategic Plan.  Parents and carers will be given an opportunity to contribute to the Review through parent consultation sessions.  I'll be providing details of those sessions as we get closer to the review.
