Aboriginal art

Aboriginal art is one of the oldest artforms known to man. Some rock art dates around 30,000 years ago. Aboriginal art is created by Aboriginal people.

Story telling is important in aboriginal culture because it teaches others about their past and they use art to tell stories. Aboriginal art either tells a story, outlines an event, or beliefs of Aboriginal people. Historically they used symbols and icons because there was no written language.

Aboriginal art includes rock art, bark paintings, body decorations, wood sculptures and sand sculptures. Materials used to paint include red ochre and charcoal.
