Principal's Report

Dear students, families and carers,

It has been a busy week with our year eleven students who are on work experience, when you see the students in their work uniforms it reminds us of the importance of the program  we provide the students in preparing them for life after school.   Some of the courses that they have completed include Barista training, First Aid and Food handling, new skills that will support them in choosing their career path.  To assist our year twelve students with their  post schooling options, they have now completed interviews with Job Co Disability Employment Services (DES)  who assists people with disability, injury and or a health condition to access and receive assistance to prepare for, find and keep a job.

Upper juniors have started new electives in preparation to see how  the senior timetable works.  These are running on a Monday afternoon and the students choose between Mapping & Location, Robotics or Budgeting.  New choices will be made by the  students at the beginning of term 4.

Lower juniors have been busy making cheese and bacon pin wheels in cooking and a group tried to scare me with their shape monsters.  The purpose of this class was to help reinforce shapes.

Finally, our two Aerobics teams flew to Adelaide this morning with two teachers to compete in the national finals.  We all hope they have a wonderful time and we look forward to hearing about their experiences.

PARENT/CAREGIVER/GUARDIAN OPINION SURVEY

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.  Information on how to access the survey will be provided early next week.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Please contact the school office on 9788 2222 if you would like more information.

SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECT UPDATE

This week we signed off on the Design Development Phase of the building project.  This exciting project will deliver a brand new building with four modern classrooms, office spaces, and consultation rooms.  It will also have new facilities for Art, PE, Music/Performing Arts and Woodwork/Tech.  The design also includes a fully redesigned playground in the Lower Junior courtyard.  The next phase will be preparing for the project to go to tender.  We expect work to begin at the end of the current school year.
