Shine Online: Talent Competition
Throughout Term 3, the Performing Arts Captains have organised and run our online talent competition, ‘Shine Online’. Together with Ms Gorman, the students decided on the logistics, judging criteria and timelines before launching the event in Week 4.
All students were invited to enter with a range of talents submitted including singing, dancing, acting, drawing and music remixing, to name a few!
The Performing Arts Captains helped organise two industry professionals to be our guest judges; singer-songwriter Michael Butera, and choreographer/performer Rhiannon Johnson. Our guest judges watched every entry and provided written feedback to all students who entered. They narrowed down the entries to out Top 8 Semi-Finalists, and following a second round of video submissions, our Top 4 Grand Finalists.
This led to a week of voting from Staff and Students. With extremely close results, we are excited to announce the winner of the competition is Makenzy Jackson of Year 10. Makenzy entered a beautiful rendition of an original song she'd written. The judges, staff and students all loved not only her writing, but also her performance of the piece. Makenzy will receive our first prize of a $50 voucher!
We weren't going to reveal the order of our runners up, but felt this had to be shared as it was so close! With only ONE VOTE difference, Year 8 student Darcie Bendelle came in second with her original composition. What fantastic writing and talent from such a young student - great work Darcie!
The voting was incredibly close all over, so a massive congratulations also to Kyle & Alyse, who both wowed our judges, staff and students with their entries. A fantastic effort to get to the last round, and something they should both be very proud of!
