Year 7 & 10 Immunisations

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

We have received the below advice from Immunisation Services Hume City Council:

RE: YEAR 7 AND YEAR 10 STUDENTS IMMUNISATIONS

Students in Year 7 and Year 10 require the following vaccinations:

Year 7

  • Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (HPV) - two doses are given six months apart.
  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (dTpa- Boostrix) – a single booster dose.

Year 10

  • Meningococcal ACWY (Nimenrix) vaccine. This vaccine is due even if the student has previously received the Meningococcal C vaccine.

Hume City Council’s Immunisation Services team would normally visit Hume secondary schools to deliver these vaccinations. Due to school closures in 2020, we were only able to visit some schools and to offer a series of immunisation sessions for students during May and June.

New appointment-based immunisation sessions are now available for any year 7 and 10 students who did not receive their vaccines earlier this year.

Please note:

  • To maintain your child’s health, it is important they receive their vaccines.
  • Immunisation is classified as healthcare and you are permitted to leave home and travel to attend an immunisation appointment.
  • It is safe for your child to be immunised during the COVID-19 pandemic. All immunisation sessions have safety measure in place to ensure the health and safety of your child.
  • Year 7 students who previously received the first dose of HPV from Hume City Council will be notified when their second dose is due.

If your child has missed the Year 7 or Year 10 immunisations, please phone us for an appointment on 9356 6745.

Yours faithfully,

Immunisation Services Hume City Council
