Level 5 and 6

Year 5 and 6 students in music innovation are learning to play ‘Centuries by Fall Out Boy’ on various instruments. They will be working on developing their ensemble skills to prepare this song for the GWPS production in term 3. Students will be expanding on instruments they know a little about already or will be challenging themselves to learn the basics of a new instrument. They will have the choice to use guitar, piano, xylophone, violin, singing or drums. Once the students have learnt the notes and rhythm for the song individually, they will begin to play together in small groups. When they are confident playing in small groups, they will combine groups until all 20 students are playing in time together as an ensemble. To play together in an ensemble of 20 students will need to use their listening skills and they will need to count and keep the beat in order to stay together with each other.
