A note from Mr Jackson

Heather’s Farewell
A special thank you to those that have shared in the farewell to Heather McIntosh over these last few weeks. Her presence amidst us will be sorely missed by students, parents and teachers. Those who gathered at yesterday’s assembly were moved by the expressions of thanks and appreciation that were shared through video, gifts, words and song. Although she has left us as principal at Rosanna Primary she has left an indelible mark on us all with her love of learning and care for each one of us. We are all better learners from having shared life at Rosanna Primary with her.
On Monday night, School Council will meet and begin the process of appointing a substantive Principal to the school.
Fair Informs Learning
It has been a thrill to speak with a range of students about their plans in participating in the upcoming school Old Time Fair. Some of the senior classes have established working teams exploring designs for their stalls or carefully budgeting to ensure profits are maximised. Guest speakers have enriched discussions and challenged students to extend their thinking. During these inquiry sessions learning has become meaningful and purposeful. We look forward to seeing the outcomes of their preparation at the fair. All the classes are eager for as many volunteers to support them. Please consider possible volunteering on some of their stalls or helping them gather resources to support their learning.
Working Bee Reminder
Come and plant, paint, sweep, blow, rake, shovel, clean, build, repair at our Working Bee this Saturday from 9:00am til 12:00pm. We will meet at 9:00am to work in groups to tackle different tasks. There is planting to be done by Preps and other students. Wear some sturdy shoes, a hat and bring along some energy.
We hope to add some edging to the garden alongside the Chandler Hall near the driveway, repair the small garden above the 1/2 Area, do some general blowing, rake the softfall in the lower playground, blow the area outside the 2/3/4 Area, paint the wall below the library, repaint the number line in the STEM Garden, sort some STEM Garden equipment, replace some rotting timbers in the steps outside 1/2T and have a good time.
These jobs are on the list and although we may not get to them all, every helping hand will help tackle an important job.
Child Safety Conversation Invitation This Monday
Thanks for those who have responded to the invitation to attend a special discussion group on Child Safety. The Victorian Registration Authority (VRQA) are eager to learn what you think makes Rosanna Primary a Child Safe School. There are still places for parents to participate in a group discussion on Monday 2 September at 5:00pm for 45 minutes. We can provide a warm bowl of soup on a cold evening! If you are interested to find out more please speak with me or leave your name at the office.
