CAPTAIN'S CORNER

SENIOR CAPTAIN

As the term approaches its end, the Year 12s are working through a busy SAC schedule with consecutive English SACs occurring this week. On Tuesday 6 June, we sat an Argument Analysis assessment in which the cohort completed our third and penultimate written SAC as a part of the vital 3/4 English course.

Following the SAC on Tuesday 6 June, we have switched our attention to the English Oral Presentations to be completed over the next three days. The creativity in these presentations has been great to see, whether it be the usage of props, acting, or even costumes to accentuate the arguments presented by students.

Although the end-of-term SACs are draining time and energy from our grade, we do have an exciting event to look forward to next week; that being the 4th Annual Year 12 Trivia Night!

Over 150 people have already registered for the event taking place next Friday 16 June, and we are hoping to see that number rise into the 300s.

Each group of students is expected to come in themed costumes and will be competing for a variety of prizes on the night. Hopefully, we can see more people register and pay the $10 fee on Compass (with all proceeds being donated to the State Schools Relief charity) and join us for an amazing night!

JUNIOR CAPTAIN

Recently at the East Campus we celebrated Wear It Yellow Day, which was a part of National Reconciliation Week. This is a time for all Australians to learn about first nations peoples’ histories, cultures and achievements. At the East Campus, we celebrated Wear It Yellow Day with a casual dress day. The theme was a splash of yellow and many students got around it.

Also, we held a sausage sizzle fundraiser to raise money for the Children’s Ground, a charity that supports Indigenous communities through wellbeing, health and education. There have been lots of exciting events happening at lunch times at the moment.

As the term finishes up here at the East Campus, exciting events and occasions are ahead of us!
