Reflection
In Australia, the first day of September is known as Wattle Day. Some of the early wattles and blossoms have been flowering or will begin to flower, and their scent is in the air. Some early flowers and desert wildflowers may begin to pop up, and trees that have lost their leaves may even be budding. We begin to hear the chirping of birds that have been elsewhere during winter. With the sun higher in the sky, we notice the lengthening hours of daylight. If we live in warmer parts of the country, temperatures are beginning to rise.
Let us remember to thank God for all that is happening around us in nature and in the skies.
In 2015 Pope Francis wrote a letter to the world about caring for the earth, our common home. It was called Laudato si'. Later that year he declared September 1 to be a World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. It's a reminder to spend every day caring for the world we live in and all its wonderful creatures.
Prayer
God of grace and wisdom,
you continually raise up good people
who show with their lives
that they follow a holy and loving God.
Let our lives be true to all our faith teaches,
so that we will grow more and more in your son's likeness.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Catherine McAuley- She always remembered that if there were ten thousand rules to be observed, the greatest of these is charity.
Catherine’s spirituality was centred on the mercy of God…prayer in action…action in prayer.
