Welcome Back!

Welcome back to the 2021 school year. I hope you had an enjoyable holiday and although many of us may have been restricted in holiday destinations, I hope you were able to enjoy some quality time as a family. It’s always wonderful to hear and share stories of our experiences over the long break!

Our first few days back have been really smooth. It has been wonderful to see our children (and parents) arrive to school each day with huge smiles on their faces as they reunite with friends and teachers.

There were a few updates and renovations completed over the holiday period but all went to plan so all our Learning Spaces were fully up and ready to go by first day.

A special welcome to all our new families who have commenced at Corpus Christi School. We hope that your time here is very special and that we can form a wonderful partnership in the education of your children and in building our wonderful school community.

We also had two extra staff join us over the holiday period so we welcome Mrs Susan Buslon and Miss Ally Curnow to our Learning Support team. A full staffing list for 2021 is listed below.

I must congratulate our Year Prep children for settling into their learning community so well in their first few days of school. They are quickly picking up routines and expectations and I have yet to see a tear. Well done!

School Uniform

Children are expected to wear their correct uniform at all times as detailed below:

BOYS:

SUMMER: Grey shorts, blue shirt, grey socks, black shoes (not runners)

WINTER: Grey trousers, grey socks, plain white skivvy (or blue school shirt), royal blue jumper, black shoes.

GIRLS:

SUMMER: Blue checked dress, white socks (that rise above the ankle), black shoes (not runners)

WINTER: Blue checked skirt or navy slacks, plain white skivvy (or white blouse), royal blue jumper, navy tights or white socks, black shoes.

SPORTS UNIFORM: School yellow polo shirt and school royal blue shorts. No bike shorts or running shorts. The school tracksuit and runners are to be worn on P.E. days only.

HATS: All children are expected to wear a school hat at recess times and during sport in Terms 1 and 4. We also encourage students to wear their hat before and after school.

HAIR: Long hair is to be tied back at all times with blue or white hair accessories. All students are to wear their own natural hair colour.

JEWELLERY: Jewellery is not part of the school uniform. Only stud earrings (or small sleepers) and watches may be worn. No responsibility will be taken for loss or damage of such items.

LABELLING CLOTHING:

All items of clothing, lunch boxes and school bags must be labelled clearly.

Please note that long pants and tights are not part of the summer uniform!

Sports Uniform

Children are to wear their SPORTS uniform (2 days per week) on days where they are scheduled for Physical Education. For Term 1, these days will be -

Year Prep: Thursday and Friday

Year 1/2: Tuesday and Friday

Year 3/4: Tuesday and Friday

Year 5/6: Thursday and Friday

Click and Collect:

All uniform items need to be purchased through the school office preferably by ordering via email on the order form below. Payments can be made online or over the phone. We will call you when your order is ready for collection.

School Closure Day

On Friday 26th February there will be a Professional Development Day for the staff. There will be NO SCHOOL for students on that day.

Dance Program

It is wonderful to have our Dance Program up and running for Term1. The program is conducted by Footsteps and will run every Friday.

We have partnered with Footsteps for over twelve years and it has been amazing to watch the skill development of our children as they engage with the program.

Hopefully, we will be able to have a small presentation at the end of the term.

ABC Music

It is also wonderful to have our ABC Music program back on site this year! During 2020 lessons continued online but now we can welcome back our keyboard teacher Megan who is very excited to be back at CCK. Guitar lessons will be conducted by a new teacher this year, so we welcome Cleo to CCK.

Megan will also be offering violin lessons and Cleo will be offering voice lessons.

COVID Summer

As per my earlier notification to families, we have moved into COVID Summer, the next stage of the Victorian Government’s COVID Normal roadmap. The procedures detailed below are being followed this term.

As visitors are now allowed on site:
- Parents are invited into the school grounds to drop off their children in the morning
- Stop, Kiss and Drop signs will remain outside each of our Learning Communities
- Children will be permitted to enter their Learning Communities from 8:45 am onwards
- Parents (and siblings) are still not permitted to enter the learning environments so please keep clear of entrance ways

While we need to work within the parameters as set out by the health department, we hope to provide more opportunities for families to reconnect within our school community as the term progresses.

Beginning of the School Year Mass

Our Beginning of the School Year Mass will be held this Friday at 10:30 am in Corpus Christi Church. COVID Summer restrictions prevent us from extending the invitation to families.

Assemblies

Assemblies will recommence on Monday 8th February and will be held in the 'gathering space' (undercover area). Parents are welcome to attend as long as we adhere to social distancing norms. We will need to space out and observe the 1.5m social distancing rule. Masks will need to be worn if we can't keep our 1.5m spacings.

Big Breakfast

Our Big Brekky is back!

That's right.... on Friday 19th February we plan to host our Big Brekky (COVID style) commencing at 8:00 am. All families are welcome to join us for breakfast in the central courtyard and feast upon a range of pastries, fruit, sausages, juice and tea and coffee (a Coffee Van will be on-site).

It will be a time to catch-up, meet new people and just enjoy the new year. Obviously, we will need to adhere to social distancing norms and food will be served in line with our COVIDSafe plan.

School Fees

Invoices for Fees and Levies for 2021 will be emailed to all families next week. Money raised from the collection of fees and levies allows us to offer our extra-curricula activities such as: Mathletics Program, Swimming Program, Dance Program, Interschool Sports Program, excursions and so on as well as covering all stationery requirements for students, classroom and program supplies/resources.

Private income raised from levies also assists with the constant upgrading of systems and programs, funding of capital works, maintenance of our buildings as well as the school environment.

It is important that all families be prepared to meet this financial commitment. Our policy, in keeping with that of the CECV, recognises that some families face difficulties and as such consideration or concession may be given. If any family finds themselves in this situation, please contact me via the school office.

As per information sent to all families last year our Fee and Levy Structure for 2021 is as follows:

Family Fee

$1430

Term 1 Instalment: $480.00 due by 1st April 2021

Term 2 Instalment: $480.00 due by 25th June 2021

Term 3 Instalment: $470.00 due by 17th September 2021

Curriculum Levy

$470 payable before 26th February 2021

Capital Levy

$110 payable by 25th June 2021

Alternatively, you may wish to set up periodical payments through your bank account with the TOTAL payable by 17th September 2021.

Please Note: The school provides assistance to families holding a valid means-tested concession card (e.g. Health Care Card) with a current discount of $175 on school fees. This will appear on your account to applicable families.

Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF)

A reminder that families who hold a valid Health Care Card for the 2021 year are able to receive a government rebate through the Camp, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF) which is currently set at $125 per primary aged child.

Applications for the CSEF can be collected from the school office. We encourage families to submit these to the school office by the end of March.
