School Photos are scheduled for next Friday November 13th. Students will need to be ready for their class and individual snaps, please make sure that uniforms look their best, hair styles sorted out and make sure each child brings their best smiles to school for these important mementos. COVID safety plans will be in operation on the day.

Staff members have been completing presentations to VIT panels that enable them to access full teacher registration. These important meetings have focused on key learning questions, involve mentor staff and require a formal written summary that accompanies their presentation. These events have been of extremely high quality and reflect the work of our staff as they work to take on the challenges of becoming a fully registered teacher in Victoria. Well done to you all.

Remembrance Day is acknowledged on November 11th each year. Senior students have been selling Legacy fundraising items before school at the different gates. Please have correct coins ($2-$5) to support this worthy Legacy cause and in some way remember the sacrifices made by those who paid the ultimate price to defend our freedoms.

Parking in Stanley Parade and around the school is controlled and governed by parking signs. There is also an expectation that our neighbours don’t have to contend with having access to their homes blocked by people who choose to park illegally and selfishly. Irate neighbours have every right to complain but how do I defend or support this type of behaviour?

A team of CJC staff have engaged with Department of Education staff to undertake training designed to formulate a Professional Learning Community model for our school. These structures support student learning, intervention strategies, planning formats, meeting protocols and the focus of ongoing professional leaning across all areas of the school. This important team will work on this program and we can expect to see a PLC model operating at CJC just in time for the commencement of the 2021 school year. We will keep you updated.

Lost Property – Please ensure every item your child brings to school has their name on it. Our lost property is growing and items won’t make it back home, if they are unnamed.

As we commence the process for placing students in classes, creating grade groupings and allocating staff to their 2021 teaching and support roles we need to be certain of student numbers. Thank you to those families who have confirmed with us in writing their 2021 destinations, if you are not returning to our school next year please contact the office and follow up with a confirmation message via Email. Child/ren will participate in four sessions:

Two on site at school.
Two via ‘Zoom’ at home.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to meet with parents to discuss all things 'Prep Transition'. Instead, we will be hosting two webinar events to enable us to present parents with the information needed to transition their child from kinder to prep. These webinars are being held on Tuesday 10th November at 5.00pm and Wednesday 11th November at 7.00pm. Links to the webinars have been sent to families by Compass.

There is no requirement to attend both webinars. If you have not received the link, please contact our office.

Les élèves ont fini la semaine avec une journée pour réfléchir à 3 objectifs qu’ils aimeraient atteindre avant la fin de l’année, un objectif personnel et 2 objectifs liés à l’école. Bravo aux participants, nous vous redonnerons vos objectifs à la fin du trimestre afin que vous puissiez voir si vous les avez atteints !

Pour les familles ayant un enfant commençant en Grande Section avec nous en 2021, n’oubliez pas de vous joindre à nous sur zoom pour une réunion d’information. Deux dates vous sont proposées :

Hello everyone,

Another busy week at school! We have ended the week with a “Set goal day”. Students had to think about 3 goals that they would like to achieve by the end of the year, choosing a personal goal and 2 academic goals.

Well done to our goal setters, these goals will be returned to you at the end of the term, so you can see if you have achieved them!

For future Prep families in 2021, please join us on zoom for an information session. Two dates are available:

Curriculum Leader

This week, the teachers of Caulfield Junior College worked together on Writing Moderation in preparation for our end of year reporting. It was wonderful to watch and listen to the teachers, across year levels, collaborating and celebrating student learning and achievement.

Moderation is one of the most important tools that teachers use to align professional judgements about student achievement. At Caulfield Junior College this process takes place at various stages of the year and involves teachers from Prep to Year 6 engaging in professional conversations in which they calibrate their judgements following the selection and reviewing of student work samples. The moderation process enables teachers to develop a shared understanding of curriculum expectations, student achievement and enhances fairness and consistency in teacher judgements.

In this issue
