Senior School News

I would like to congratulate the Senior School students on completing what was an extremely difficult school year. I hope students all feel that they have learnt something about themselves during the year that will help them in the coming years.

To the Class of 2020 we congratulate you all on a great year and sincerely hope that your results allow you to move into your intended pathway next year. Please remember that if need any career advice Heather and the Senior School team are available.

Our preparations for 2021 have been in full swing. Our VCE transition week has been completed with all classes beginning their courses and students being introduced to the subjects they have chosen to study. All students should make sure that they have registered for the google classroom groups for each of their 2021 classes and the year level google classroom that has been set up. It is important that you complete the required holiday homework by the beginning of the school year. If you were absent and did not get the codes for google classroom please contact your teachers for the code.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and an enjoyable break and look forward to seeing you in 2021.

Year 10 News

Thank you to all of the Year 10 students for a very successful year at Glen Eira College.

2020 is not what anyone expected it to be, and I can safely say we have all made it through to the other side with smiling faces. It was so exciting to see you all enter your transition classes for VCE and entering the world of Year 11 and new subjects for you to experience.

Thank you to all parents for your support over 2020 and your patience and general support, it is much appreciated.

Here is to a fresh start to 2021.

Year 11 News

Congratulations to all Year 11 students on making it to the end of the 2020 school year. The way you have navigated through the challenges presented by COVID-19 is something you should all be extremely proud of. I really enjoyed being your year level coordinator and was impressed with the dedication and perseverance shown this year.

For students leaving the college to pursue other pathways I wish you all the best in your future endeavours. For students returning to the college next year, make sure you have a nice and relaxing break with friends and family, stay on top of your holiday homework, and all the best for a big 2021!

Performing Arts - VCE Theatre Studies

This year the Year 11 Theatre Studies class has had its challenges; having COVID occur and having the majority of lessons online. Students had the opportunity throughout the year to present a pre modern solo monologue and also a modern solo monologue. These concepts were taken from units 3 and 4 Theatre Studies and applied in order to prepare them for the following year. There were lots of standout performances that varied from A Chorus Line, Sweeny Todd, Into the Woods and Frankenstein

This term when students returned onsite they created an ensemble modern performance that was based on the classic tale Alice in Wonderland. Students researched and rehearsed for their performance and prepared to perform the short play that went for 30minutes. They created scenes that included characters of the Mad Hatter, Alice, Caterpillar, White Rabbit and many more. Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions, they were unable to perform to an audience, but performed in class time.

Well done to the Year 11 Theatre Studies class on making it through this year with a heavy based performing subject.
