A Message from Lisa....

End of Term

I can't believe that this is the last newsletter for 2019!  Where has the year gone?  It doesn't feel like a year ago that we were preparing for the last two weeks of school and yet here we are preparing for the end of another year.  Today we had our final transition/step up day.  All of the children were able to spend time in their grade for next year and meet their teacher and class mates.  It takes an incredible amount of work to try to get grades right and I would like to thank all of the staff for taking so much care with this process.

As the year comes to a close, we have to farewell some of our staff.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank the following staff and wish them all the best for their next endeavours, even though we will miss them very much.

Rochelle Yates - Rochelle has been a huge part of our school community for the past 4 years. She has been a wonderful asset to our school and we are really going to miss her.  I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank her for her dedication and hard work as Assistant Principal and wish her and her family all the best with their big move to America.

Suada Dzaferovic - Suada has been a teacher at AGPS for the last 18 years.  Over the years she has taught across all year levels and was instrumental in establishing our iPad program.  Over the last 2 years Suada has had a focus on mathematics and has now been offered the position of Learning Specialist at Toorak Primary School.  We wish her well with the next stage of her career and thank her for everything she has done for our school.

Anne Rabach - Anne has been a part of our school community for over 27 years.  Some of our parents have told me that they remember Anne being one of their teachers when they attended our school as students themselves.  Anne has dedicated her career to teaching and I would like to thank her for her dedication to educating our students and wish her all the very best in her well deserved retirement.

Neville Stephens - Neville has been our P.E. teacher for the last 2 and a half years.  Neville has done a fantastic job coordinating all of the sport programs at our school, including interschool sport, athletics, swimming and cross country.  We wish him all the best at his new school in Flemington.

We also wish Michelle Hoffman and Stefanie Henderson all the best as they take some well deserved leave next year.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say good bye to the students and families that are leaving our school.  I would particularly like to wish our grade 6 children all the best as they leave primary school and begin their secondary schooling.  We are very proud of our grade 6 students and look forward to celebrating their graduation with them.

I would also like to thank Jo Tyers.  Jo has been a parent at our school for the past 14 years.  Twelve of those years has been spent on school council and parents and friends.  Jo has supported our school with fundraising, special projects and doing lots of the designs around our school, including our vision poster and grade 6 t-shirts.  We are going to miss her very much.

To all of our families returning next year, please have a safe holiday break and we will see you all in 2020.
