School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

Welcome to the page in the Newsletter where we celebrate student success.
*There was no assembly this week - we will leave you in suspense of which students have been doing great things!
This term classes have had a focus on being SAFE, RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE LEARNERS in the yard.
We paused on this for two weeks as we learnt the expectations for Athletics Day. Next week we resume our focus.
What does that mean? It means that students are taught what behaviour in the yard is expected. There is a whole section in our matrix that is specific to the yard.
In some cases they might role play, practise problem solving social situations and learn who they can ask for help from if they need. In the yard staff wear an orange vest so students can identify safe adults that can help them.
Students also have a choice to attend program at breaktime. Students are taught and reminded to attend a program if they feel the yard might be too much for them at that time. Breaktime programs are great at supporting new friendships.
Some popular breaktime programs this term are:
-Tech Time with Ms Lam playing Bee Bots
-Library with Cristina watching past Naranga Concerts
-Running Club (now three times a week) with Ms McNeil, Mr Martin, Lisa, Simone, Gen and Ms Malcolm
-Uno Club with Jenny and Tracey
-Dodgeball with Mr McConnell and Mr Richards
Some exciting new program starting next term thanks to the ideas coming through the SRC.
