Interoception - The 8th Sense

Naranga students are continuing to learn about the 8th sense, Interoception.  They are learning more about noticing the signals in their body that give clues about feeling hungry, tired or grumpy.

Students in the Lower Juniors, Upper Juniors and Seniors are participating in this program with their classroom teacher and some of the Naranga Therapists.

This week the focus for the Upper Juniors was on HOW OUR MOUTH FEELS. We tried many experiments and made a list of words to describe how our mouths can feel.  One of the favourite - or least favourite ;) - experiments was to suck on a lemon.  It was lots of fun and some students felt very BIG sensations!!

It would be great to practice Interoception skills at home. Ask your children about what they learnt in Interoception, what experiments they did this week or how specific body parts feel (e.g. How do your hands feel when you do that?)

Here are some words we thought of.  Can you think of any more?
