What a fun week it has been to begin Term 3! Students have been exploring a range of learning concepts and have been enjoying reconnecting back to school after the holidays.
In Literacy, students have been learning to Identify the plot of a Fable. This includes identifying the orientation, problem, solution and resolution. During writing, students have been recording the features of fables such as the morale to the short story, characters and their setting. We had fun linking this to Indigenous Dream Time Stories and identifying their features as part of NAIDOC week.
In Maths, students have been learning how to sort and add given money amounts. We had lots of fun using catalogues to "purchase" items within a given budget which involves using a range of addition strategies.
During NAIDOC week we enjoyed having Mr Howard come in and show students Indigenous instruments and tools and explain how they were made. We were blown away by listening to him play the Didgeridoo and show students the breathing technique they used and explain how they paint the outside using natural materials.
