Welcome back everyone to Term Three. It is lovely to see the students friendly smiling faces again. In Reading this week we learnt about fiction texts and their features, such as texts are made up by authors and illustrators, we need to read them in order, there are characters and settings plus a beginning, middle and end. In Writing we fine tuned our recount writing with a lot of detail and edited our work. We also worked on our handwriting placing letters in the sky, grass or dirt. We In Maths we moved onto numbers in the teens. We also learnt a lot about NAIDOC Week with some very interesting Indigenous activities every day. Thank you to Bunnings Pakenham East and Jo for donating more trees and shrubs to beautify the front of the school. Thank you also to Kristy for organising the planting of these plants.

Prep Guy Student Of The Week

Congratulations to Charlotte who was voted as this week' s Star Of The Week by her class mates. Her peers said Charlotte was very respectful treating others the way she would like to be treated. Charlotte is also very responsible, doing the right thing all the time and she is trustworthy, caring and kind.

Grade One Two

This week we have settled back into school with full swing. We have been looking at syllables and reading strategies along with refreshing our knowledge of number and place value. Grade 1/2 Beilby have had some fun collating data and graphing results using skittles in Maths. The students spent some time outside brainstorming words beginning with a sound for writing. Some students got creative with their working spaces! Grade 1/2 Stole have been using water colour paints to paint feathers to attach to a wreath - they look incredible!

It is NAIDOC week and the students have been working in cross aged groups to learn and talk about our First Nations Peoples. Each afternoon we have come together to build on our knowledge of indigenous Australians and completing activities that have been a lot of fun. The students have made headbands and badges and even had a special visit from Miss Maxine’s dad, who shared personal experiences and displayed his talent by playing the Didgeridoo. This was a real highlight of the week. Be sure to check out the terrific art work hanging from the tress on the turf area.

We would like to remind families that students are asked to read every night in grade One & Two for 20 minutes or more each night. Please record the nights read each week. We ask that they bring their diaries in each Friday morning so that we can check their progress and celebrate their success’ at assembly with reading awards.

Our newsletter will now be sent out fortnightly so you will notice we have two students achievers to celebrate.

Congratulation’s to Cohen Corser in 1/2 Beilby for being awarded our achiever this week. Cohen consistently follows our instructions and has really worked hard this week. He did a terrific job identifying syllables and is a very good friend. Next week, our achiever will be Mason Miller. Mason is a whiz at his times tables and is taking the lead when we are learning them in class. I am very proud of the boys, they have both shown kindness and resilience in class. Well done.

Congratulation’s to Kaiden Klein in 1/2 Stole for being awarded the achiever this week. Kaiden has shown kindness and understanding to others and has made great progress in his writing. Kaiden follows our school values and shows respect to his peers. Next week, our achiever is Chloe Bryden. Chloe is kind and curious and always works hard in class. She is compassionate and a terrific friend and consistently puts her best foot forward doing her

personal best. Well done.
