John Paul II Day

John Paul II Day
On the 18 October, staff and students celebrated John Paul II Day. We started the day with a liturgy that focused on St John Paul II and his inspiring messages.
For example, ‘I plead with you – never, ever give up on hope, never doubt, never tire, and never become discouraged. Be not afraid.’
We had a special guest for the day, Peter Mitchell, the writing and brain behind the Making Jesus Real, Spirit of Jesus and My Friend Jesus programs. ‘Mitch’ also brought a Principal from Western Australia, Eugene, and together they spent some time with students from various classes. Mitch then spoke to the whole school and used St Teresa of Avila’s famous prayer as inspiration:
Christ has no body but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassionately on this world.
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good.
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands.
Yours are the feet.
Yours are the eyes.
You are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassionately on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
Amen.
We had a sausage sizzle or a vegetable burger for lunch. After lunch we had the very competitive tabloid sports afternoon, organised brilliantly by Mrs B. It was a very fun afternoon, filled with activity and interaction between our students right across the school.
We finished the day with an icy pole on the deck and enjoyed the John Paul II Community.
It was a wonderful day.
