Principal's Report

Dear parents, carers and students,

We are at the mid-way point of term 4 already!  In the past fortnight teachers have been conducting end of year assessments and finalising reports for the 2022 school year.  You'll have the opportunity to attend a final Student Support Group meeting during the week of December 5-9.

There are lots of great end of year activities coming up including camps for students in Pathways, Outdoor Education and PLC2.  We have our graduation night on December 2. Transition Day on December 13 and our end of year awards Assembly on December 16.

We have had more policies reviewed and are available for the school community to view and give feedback.  Details on how to view these policies are below.

The most recent policy reviewed is the Yard Duty and Supervision Policy.  This is very relevant as recently I've seen students being dropped off for school as early as 8:15am. There is no playground supervision until 8:45am so please do not leave your children at school unattended prior to 8:45am.

There is an Outside of School Hours Care program available to students of Naranga.  Please get in touch if you'd like more information.

Child safety and wellbeing at Naranga School: information for families and the school community

The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Naranga School has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our website.  You can find them at this link.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please contact the Principal or Child Safety Officer on 9788 2222.

Other recent school policy updates

Naranga School is scheduled for a School Review in term 1 of 2023.  As part of this process the school is currently undergoing a whole-scale review of all of its policies.  It is important that the school community is aware of our school policies and has the opportunity to provide feedback.  In case you didn't know, all school policies are available to the public on our website, you can find them at this link.

To raise awareness of our policies, each week in the newsletter I will include links to a number of policies which have recently been reviewed and approved.

The latest policies to be added to the website include:

If you have any questions or feedback regarding these policies or other policies on the website, you can ring or email the school and let me know.
