FUNDRAISING TARGETS SURVEY

Thank you to those families who completed the 'Wembley Fundraising Target Survey' that was sent out via Sentral a couple of weeks ago. We received nearly 100 responses and a number of helpful suggestions for future fundraising target ideas. There were four categories listed and families were able to indicate the order in which they wished to prioritise these categories. These categories were:

  • Social and emotional wellbeing resources
  • Environmental and sustainability resources
  • Assistive learning tools
  • Books

Based on the survey results, 'Social and emotional wellbeing resources' have been identified as our first priority as a fundraising target, with nearly half of respondents identifying this as their first priority. 'Assistive learning tools' were identified as our second priority, with it having the greatest number of people identify it as their first or second priority area, after excluding the 'Social and emotional wellbeing resources' votes. The third priority area was 'Books' and 'Environmental and sustainability resources' was identified as our final priority area.

In summary the order of priority is as follows:

  1. Social and emotional wellbeing resources
  2. Assistive learning tools
  3. Books
  4. Environmental and sustainability resources

We have included a short description of each category below so you understand what it is.

Social and Emotional Wellbeing Resources

These funds could be used to purchase materials to support lunchtime club activities and breakout rooms such as Lego, mindfulness resources and sensory toys. In addition to purchasing resources to support our social and emotional learning priority as well as to purchase additional equipment for students to use in the playground.

Environmental & Sustainability Resources

Resources would be purchased, in line with our School Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) and to support our Wembley Waste Warriors, to support sustainability measures regarding waste, energy, water and biodiversity for example compost bins, more soft plastic bins and an additional bike rack to encourage more people to ride to school.

Assistive Learning Tools

This would consist of learning tools that can be used in the classroom to support students to be more independent with particular learning tasks. These would include things such as scanning pens, iPads, headphones and software.

Books

This would consist of purchasing additional texts for classroom libraries based on student interests and needs, as well as the purchase of additional mentor texts. Mentor texts are exemplary pieces of literature or writing that teachers use as models for students to learn from and emulate, providing them with examples of effective writing techniques, styles, and structures. Using mentor texts in the classroom allows students to learn from the best examples of writing, and to develop their own skills by applying the strategies and techniques demonstrated in the text to their own work.

Additional Suggestions

A number of families also gave some helpful suggestions of fundraising targets. A number of these already fit within the categories above and so will be considered when making purchases for these categories. Those suggestions which do not fit within these categories will also be shared with the school for consideration. As money is raised for these target areas through upcoming fundraising events, we will keep you updated of the funds raised and how they are spent so that you can see the impact of your contributions.

We have kept the survey open in case there are families reading this who do not have a chance to submit a suggestion and would still like to. While your votes may not effect the outcome of the prioritisation we will still be able to use your suggestions to inform future planning for fundraising targets. If you are still wishing to contribute a suggestion to the survey you can do so by following this link: https://forms.gle/auTEfCmQtLctFsQD7
