The Benefits of OGEA Membership

Adjunct Duties:  article 14.11.3

  • Are you aware that OGEA members have rights to give input on the adjunct duties at your site?
  • Your OGEA reps and principal should meet to discuss and determine adjunct duties by May 31.
  • This is your opportunity to give feedback to your reps.  All adjunct duties should be equitable.

 

Compensation: article 12

  • Are you aware that OGEA members will receive another raise next year?
  • We are currently completing the first year of a 3 year contract.
  • OGEA members have received the following raises:  5.5% for 2021-22, 4% for 2022-23 and an upcoming 4% raise for next year.
  • Your raises are cumulative for a total of 13.5% over 3 years.

 

Matters of Compelling Days:  article 8.3.2

  • Are you aware that you can utilize your sick time for a variety of reasons?
  • You are entitled to matters of compelling days for reasons such as legal, court, marriage, graduation, religious, personal importance or military service.
  • The limit is 8 days for everything except personal importance days.
  • If you are taking leave for personal importance reasons, the limit is 6 days instead of 8.
  • Make sure you review the language before you put in for time off.
  • You need to give 5 working days notice if you wish to utilize this leave.  
  • Extending vacation is discouraged and requires 30 days notice.

 

Are you aware that, as an OGEA member, you are part of a democratic organization that helps determine the rules you are employed under in your collectively bargained agreement?  You get to give input into the bargaining process, vote for OGEA leadership to direct bargaining, and vote on whether or not to accept the bargaining agreements.
