2021 Subject Selections

Course Counselling for 2021

It’s that time of the year again when we begin the most important process of planning for student subject and course selections for the next year.

Planning for this in the current environment has presented certain challenges, as there is a need to maintain social isolation and distancing as much as possible. For this reason, we will be undertaking virtual parent-student Course Counselling sessions in 2020, which we hope will allow accessibility and ease for parent/carers to be participate in the course counselling sessions.

Prior to the interview, your child will have completed a draft Pathway Plan that they should take the time to discuss with you. The plans will be accessible on Compass on the students dashboard, pinned as a Chronicle entry.

At the interview, parents and students will discuss this draft plan and make subject selections relevant to their career goals, with the guidance of a Course Counsellor.

After a very successful course counselling day for Year 11 students, our process will be continuing for Year 7-10 in Term 3.

Year 7 to 10 Counselling

Parents/carers and students should note the dates and arrangements for learning in the information provided below. Some of these days will include asynchronous learning, which means students will be working independently on Compass lesson plans (at home or at school) without the real time instruction of teachers.

This is because many teachers will be involved in the course counselling at that time, which means they will not be available. Teachers will be following up with the set lesson plans and work completed by students in the next lesson.

Parent/carers will receive their appointment letter soon outlining their remote course counselling interview time (conducted via video on Teams due to COVID restrictions).
