Principal's Report

Reflecting on Term 2

What a strange Term 2 it has been. Thank you for showing resilience, determination and patience as we have all worked together to support each other. That is exactly what strong communities do, they bond together during times of adversity.

Thank you!

Thank you to all students for stepping up to embrace the challenge. Well done!

To the College staff I say thank you for overcoming the challenges of face to face learning to remote learn in a short period of time and then back again.

Parents and Carers thank you for your support and your patience. You had the opportunity to see first-hand of some of the work that teachers and support staff do each day to support learning.

Course Counselling

Subject and Pathways selections for 2021

On Tuesday this week, we conducted our first ever  remote Course Counselling session. This session was for students currently in Year 11. There was considerable planning prior to the day to ensure that all sessions ran smoothly. The team at our college has a strong focus on Access for Success, as we work hard to improve learning outcomes for our young people.

On Wednesday 22nd July, Course Counselling for Enhance students (current Year 10’s) progressing to Senior School, will be held. While on Thursday 30th July, current students in Year 7-9 will have their Course Counselling Day.

Student Agency

Based on student feedback and the endorsement of College Council, our School jackets will be changing for 2021.  Students are currently voting on the preferred design and the chosen style will be phased into the College. This means that all new students will purchase the new style jacket and current students may wish to upgrade or retain their current jacket. If the jacket is outgrown or lost, the only jacket that may be bought will be the new jacket.

The three styles that are being voted on are pictured in the gallery below.

Early next term, student voice will be used to select the preferred track pants and sport shorts that will also be available for the start of 2021. We will show these designs in the next edition of our Newshamper.

Student Leadership

Our School Captains and Student Leaders recently participated in a Steps to Success webinar conducted by the City of Casey. You can read more about their experience in the Student Leadership section of the Newshamper.  Thank you and well done to our Student Leadership team.

College Fees

Thank you to the families who have paid their Essential School Fees for 2020. As a government school, tuition by teachers is at no charge however Essential School Fees are required to paid for materials and equipment. I am determined to continue to upgrade and improve our facilities and transform learning at our College. Parent contributions assist us to realise these projects.

School upgrades so far this year have included;

  • Resource Centre - re carpeting, painting, lighting, and furniture
  • External painting to many buildings
  • New flag poles
  • A new synthetic grass Volleyball Court
  • Classroom painting
  • Paving repairs
  • Tree trimming and mulching

During the holidays, work will commence on our external Basketball and Futsal Court. Synthetic grass will be added to the surface to transform the area for students. This work is expected to be completed early in Term 3.

As we are approaching the end of financial year, a friendly reminder that donations to our building fund or library fund are tax deductible and are welcomed at the College.  These donations further assist the College in improving our facilities and grounds.
