Catholic Identity

Last Thursday, World Day Against Trafficking in Persons was observed at St. Joes with a PJ/Comfy Clothing Day, fundraising and a ‘Slavery In Australia’ awareness campaign. This was an initiative of our Senior School Leaders, and raised money for ACRATH - Australian Catholic Religious Against Trafficking in Humans, run by the Brigidine Nuns in Melbourne.

Our Senior Leaders were asking our community: HOW COMFY ARE YOU?

  • Are you comfortable with the fact that there are slaves in Australia today?
  • Are you comfortable with the fact that many of them are girls your age?
  • Are you comfortable with the fact that only 1 in 5 are being rescued?

If you answered NO to the above, then as you enjoyed your comfy clothing, we hoped  you remembered that you are in fact very privileged and lucky to be able to live a life of freedom, to make your own decisions, to choose your own job or career, to be able to go home at the end of the day.

We raised $700.30 for ACRATH. Well done everyone especially those from Chisholm House who raised $141.80

Dear St. Joes Family, if you would like to support the work of ACRATH too, please donate via this page: https://acrath.org.au/acrath-2020-fundraising-appeal/ and join us in the fight to end Human Trafficking.#Justice@SJC
