Principal

From Mrs Allison

The days and weeks are rushing by and in the busyness of the upcoming festive season, we often forget to thank people around us so, I would like to extend my gratitude and extend a thank you to our staff, students and families for supporting Ringwood Secondary College (RSC) throughout 2020. Congratulations and thank you to our Bounce mentors and Learning Specialist, Kati Recinos for supporting the development of emotional empathy. Everyone’s efforts culminated in numerous gift hampers being provided by our junior students that were primarily organised for distribution to disadvantaged and less fortunate community members.

RSC is grateful for our community’s support to ensure the wellbeing and safety of everyone has remained forefront and centre of our thinking. In this week’s Compass newsfeed notice detailed changes were outlined and changes made that support the move to resume usual functioning. Without our collective efforts, positive impact in providing opportunities for our students would certainly diminish and I hope that in 2021 our college community continues to foster creative talent and encourage the growth of flourishing and thriving individuals.

In the next few weeks many important events will occur that include:

  • The Valedictory Evening on December 3rd that will showcase the hard work and celebration of many fine achievements of our Year 12 VCE/VCAL students. Despite its different format and timeslot, it is a time for teachers, parents and students to reflect and look forward.
  • Orientation Day on December 8th will herald the arrival of our new 2021 Year 7’s and the 2021 Prefects camp will develop student connections and guide the future direction for our student leadership team and enable student voice.
  • Year 11 and 12 transition and the completion of assessments and exams.

Ministerial Visit

On December 3rd, the State Minister for Education Mr James Merlino and MP Dustin Halse will officially visit the College to open the Senior School building. This event will be attended by our Yr 12 Prefects Kate Hine and Callum Rigg, Clark Hopkins Clark (Architect), Lloyd Group (Builder) and RSC staff and 2021 Prefects. This important event signifies the fine collaboration and connection between our key stakeholders to ensure a state-of-the-art building evolved.

Please continue to take care and I thank for your support.
