Education News

Hello MPW Community,

I am excited to have joined the MPWPS community in my role as Acting Assistant Principal for the remainder of 2023.  I am passionate about supporting students in their learning journey, and I looking forward to working with students, teachers and in partnership with families to support student learning engagement, and social and emotional wellbeing.

In my varied teaching career I have had the pleasure of teaching students from Foundation to Year Six, including three years teaching in England.  My most recent role was as a member of the school leadership team at Strathmore Primary School, with a holistic focus on supporting student learning growth.

This term I look forward to working with our Foundation to Year 2 students to develop positive coping skills to complement the school’s use of the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships learning materials, and with our Year 3 to 6 students to explore Cyber Safety.  Watch out for more information and updates in future newsletters.

On a personal note, I share my life with my husband and our two primary school aged children. Our weekends are busy with tennis and soccer, and we enjoy spending time at the park, reading, playing board games and making cakes together.  Our special place is Cape Paterson on the Bass Coast of Victoria, where we enjoy boogey boarding on the waves and my favourite Australian children’s book author is Alison Lester (whose work is inspired by the Bass Coast region).  I enjoy visiting the National Art Gallery, spending time catching up with my friends over coffee at local cafes and watching movies with my kids.

Families are very welcome to contact me via the school office (or come and say hi before or after school in the yard), and I look forward to building a positive partnership with all students and families at MPW.

What does a good life in Moonee Valley look like for children (0-6 years) and their families?

The Council Plan MV2040 includes Council’s commitment to support local families to give children the best possible start in life, by developing a Family and Children’s Framework.

Council want to understand 'what does a good life in Moonee Valley look like for children (aged 0-6 years) and their families?'.  Capturing the voices of a diverse range of stakeholders will inform the key themes and vision of the Framework.

You can click HERE for your opportunity to contribute to the Framework. Your input is highly valued and Council look forward to sharing the results with you.
