Reflection

A remarkable woman now called St Teresa Benedicta died in a Nazi camp eighty years ago yesterday. She grew up as Edith Stein in a German Jewish family. She gave up her belief in God as a teenager and studied philosophy. But later she became a Catholic and a Carmelite nun. In 1942 she was arrested in Holland with other Jews who had become Catholic. She and her sister were sent with them to a camp where they were put to death. She was named a saint in 1998.

Open our hearts and our minds

to his message of salvation,

and help us to share the good news

every day of our lives.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary-Tuesday 15th August

This upcoming Tuesday, the 15th August will be the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, Jesus’ mother. The Assumption marks the end of Mary’s earthly life as she is taken to heaven, body and soul. As this day is a holy day of obligation for all Catholics in the world to celebrate Mass, all members of the St Patrick's Learning Community will be celebrating Mass at 11.30am at St Patrick's Church on this day. It would be great if you could come and join us.

First Reconciliation and Confirmation

Next week, information will be sent home to the families of all eligible First Reconciliation and Confirmation candidates in regard to both preparation programs that will be commencing later in the term. The information in both documents will outline all aspects that are associated with both programs. If you have any questions/queries in regards to the Sacrament of First Reconciliation or the Sacrament of Confirmation, please feel free to contact Mr Hyatt.

Sacrament Dates for 2023

2023 First Reconciliation: Date has been set for our Catholic students in Years 2 and 3 for Friday 20th October 2023.

2023 Confirmation: Date has been set for our Catholic students in Years 5 and 6 for Sunday 5th November 2023.
