Physical Science Term 4

Even though the Tarrawarra excursion was cancelled last Friday, the STEAM room was still busy and full of fun.

The wonderful Year 3/ 4 classes participated in experiments on heat. They learned that heat is energy that moves and how to use a thermometer. The children participated in experiments about temperature changes in the human body after resting and exercising.

Temperatures were taken using an infrared thermometer and recorded. Here are some pictures of the children looking ‘oh so calm’ before their temperatures were taken.

The amazing 5/6 classes were busy making electrical circuits and I must say I was very impressed with their prior knowledge. They have also been researching non-renewable and renewable energy. Here are some pictures of their research on renewable energy. The teamwork and collaboration between the 5/6 groups was truly wonderful to see.

In the main corridor, near the 1/2 rooms, you may have also seen some of the wonderful wool work the Prep children have made. Here is a sneak peek if you have not already.

I bet you are impressed with the creativity!!

Excitingly, the Lilydale Show will soon be here on the 19th and 20th of November and if you are taking your children, please make sure you go and see all the wonderful artwork on display from our school.

If you do go and see our St Joseph’s display, could I ask that you take a picture of your children in front of this display and email it to me so I can publish these photos in the next newsletter. Thank you!

Did anyone get to see the blood moon on Tuesday night? I tried to but the moon only popped out momentarily from behind the clouds. If you have older children and they didn’t get to see the real thing you could always show them this short BTN clip to help them understand this phenomenon.
