Welcome Amanda to MPW

Hello MPWPS students and families,

It’s wonderful to be joining the team here at Moonee Ponds West Primary School as the Assistant Principal (Acting) for Semester One. Prior to joining MPWPS, I have spent the past eight years leading Achievement at Altona College (a P-12 school). Before my time at Altona College, I have worked across a range of independent and government schools, teaching primary and secondary year levels, leading whole-school curriculum areas and priorities and advancing Physical Education programs. 

Whilst I love being a teacher, when I am not at work, I love spending time with my family. The Elmer household is busy, as my husband and I raise three energetic daughters. In winter you’ll find us supporting the Mighty Hawks or coaching our girls’ junior AFL teams. As the weather warms, you’ll find us exploring beautiful regions as we head off camping with our girls and the pet dog, Esme.

Aside from my love of education and my family, I am also  passionate about helping to find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease. I lost my dad to this disease and throughout the year you’ll find me supporting FightMND to raise awareness and funds for MND.

I hope that you have all enjoyed the break from school, and that the 2023 school year starts as smoothly as it can for you. Should you be met with some bumps as we return to school, or during the term, please don’t hesitate to contact me via the school office.

I’ll be in the yard each morning and afternoon for anyone up for a chat, or even just to say hello.
