Dresden
Our Dresden “Ausflug”
On 11th May, Year 3 Art students visited the well known city of Dresden in Germany accompanied by Ms Tennent, Ms Daly and Mrs Kopová. By 8.30am everyone was seated in the bus in front of our school, all set and ready to go. After about two and a half hours, we arrived at the Altstadt, the Old Market Square, in Dresden. The weather was just as beautiful as the buildings and cathedrals that we saw. Oh, and what would Dresden be without a nice cup of coffee on the Altstadt? Equipped and ready with a cup of steaming coffee or tea in our hands, we finally commenced the day-long tour!
The first stop was the Zwinger, which is an architecturally beautiful palace housing a garden full of paths and fountains. After a short time exploring the area on our own during which we took so many photos that even other school groups visiting Dresden that day thought we were all insane (it was just all too beautiful to miss!), we met at the Zwinger Fountain from where we headed out to our next historical destination - Dresden Cathedral. On our journey there we saw many more buildings, all built with the same type of baroque passion and artistry that encapsulates Dresden.
We arrived at the Old Town Square, where the historical atmosphere was accompanied by a talented musician playing a pretty tune on a white piano placed in its centre. As a group we entered the huge marble cathedral topped with a cupola. Even though it was a “recently” rebuilt cathedral, (it had been destroyed during the Dresden bombing during the Second World War), it was outstandingly reconstructed and looked completely unspoilt and original.
Time flew and soon enough we began to succumb to hunger so we ventured onto the Brühl’s Terrasse, where we enjoyed our packed lunches. We sat on the grass with the river Elbe on our right and the Dresden Münzgasse on the left.
After lunch we finally made our way towards the famous and recognised gallery the Albertinum. The first floor housed sculptures both modern and old. We had a guide who told us all about the artists. He led us to the top floor where he gave us an hour-long tour. Here we saw the paintings that were the main objective of this trip. The gallery displayed all kinds of paintings from Kandinsky to Monet.
When the tour came to an end, we stayed in the gallery a while longer and had a chance to take a closer look at all of the paintings. The goal of going to the gallery was to choose a painting that we would like to study later on in art class. I feel confident enough to say that we were all pretty successful with our findings. The combination of a remarkable city and beautiful sunny weather made the trip difficult to forget.

Drážďany
Náš "Ausflug" do Drážďan
Dne 11. května navštívili studenti umění z 3. ročníku známé město Drážďany v Německu za doprovodu vedoucí oddělení umění, paní Tennent, a také paní Daly a paní Kopové. V 8:30 již všichni seděli v autobusu před naší školou, vše bylo připravené, jen vyrazit. Po dvou a půl hodinách jsme dorazili na Altstadtské náměstí v Drážďanech. Počasí bylo stejně krásné jako budovy a katedrály, které jsme viděli. A jaké by byly Drážďany bez chutného šálku kávy na starém městě? Vybaveni šálkem kávy nebo čaje v našich rukou, jsme konečně zahájili prohlídku!
První zastávkou byl Zwinger, který je architektonicky krásným palácem se zahradou plnou cest a fontánek. Poté jsme vyrazili okolí prozkoumat každý sám, během krátké doby jsme nafotili tolik obrázků, že i jiné školní skupiny, které navštívily Drážďany, si myslely, že jsme všichni blázniví (bylo to prostě příliš překrásné, než to nevyfotit!), Setkali jsme se u Zwinger fontány, odkud jsme se vydali k naší další historické destinaci - katedrále v Drážďanech. Na naší cestě jsme viděli mnoho dalších budov, které byly vybudovány se zápalem pro barokní umění, které je pro Drážďany typické.
Přijeli jsme na staré náměstí, kde byla historická atmosféra podtržena talentovaným hudebníkem, který hrál docela hezky na bílém klavíru umístěném v jeho středu. Jako skupina jsme vstoupili do obrovské mramorové katedrály zakončené kopulí. I když se jedná o "nedávno" přestavěnou katedrálu (byla zničena během bombardování v Drážďanech během druhé světové války), byla to vynikající rekonstrukce a vypadala zcela nedotčená a originální.
Čas letěl a brzy jsme začali pociťovat hlad, takže jsme se pustili do svačin a užívali si terasy Brühl.Seděli jsme v trávě u řeky, vpravo Labe a Drážďany Münzgasse po levici.
Po obědě jsme se konečně dostali do slavné a uznávané galerie Albertinum. V prvním patře byly umístěny sochy moderní i staré. Měli jsme průvodce, který nám řekl vše o umělcích. Vedl nás do nejvyššího patra, kde nám dal hodinovou prohlídku. Zde jsme viděli obrazy, které byly hlavním cílem této cesty. V galerii jsou k vidění všechny druhy obrazů od Kandinského po Moneta.
Když skončila prohlídka s průvodcem, zůstali jsme v galerii ještě déle a měli tak možnost blíže si prohlédnout všechny obrazy. Cílem cesty do galerie bylo vybrat si malbu, kterou bychom chtěli později studovat ve výtvarné výchově. Mohu říci, že jsme s našimi poznatky byli celkem úspěšní. Kombinace pozoruhodného města a krásného slunečného počasí učinila tuto cestu nezapomenutelnou

Berlin

Berlin trip
Following tradition, we were the next class to set off on the annual Year 3 Berlin trip. The twenty two students were accompanied by Mr Pugh and Ms Baťková. From Friday to Monday our schedule was packed with sights to see and museums to “survive”. One of the more memorable tours was of Berlin's largest public nuclear bunker, which is able to provide refuge for over three thousand civilians for a time period of several weeks. Although the bunker contained everything needed for human survival, we all agreed it would be extremely psychologically difficult to stand the boredom of rotting in a cement box underground for so long. We went from perambulating up and down the city centre to admiring the Berlin Wall to exploring a hippie market all in one day. For many of us, the highlight of the trip was enjoying the luxuries Berlin has to offer that aren’t available in Prague, such as Dunkin' Donuts. But all jokes aside, the trip was a lot of fun and I would recommend anyone who has the chance to visit Berlin to definitely take it.

Výlet do Berlína
V rámci každoroční tradice, kdy studenti třetího ročníku vyráží na výlet do Berlína, jsme vyrazili i my. Dvacet dva studentů doprovázel pan Pugh a paní Baťková. Od pátku do pondělí byl náš program plný památek ke shlédnutí a muzeí "k přežití". Jednou ze zajímavých prohlídek byla návštěva největšího berlínského jaderného bunkru, který je veřejný a může poskytnout útočiště více než třem tisícům civilistů po dobu několika týdnů. Přestože bunkr obsahoval vše potřebné pro přežití člověka, všichni jsme se shodli, že by bylo extrémně psychicky obtížné přežít nudnou hnilobu v cementové krabici pod zemí tak dlouho. Prošli jsme centrum města křížem krážem, obdivovali jsme berlínskou zeď, prozkoumali hippie trh, a to vše za jeden den. Pro mnohé z nás byla vrcholem výletu radost z luxusu, který nabízí Berlín oproti Praze, jako například Dunkin' Donuts .-). Ale všechny vtipy stranou, výlet byl velmi zábavný a doporučil bych každému, kdo má možnost navštívit Berlín, aby tak určitě učinil.

Berlin Experience
On Friday 28th April a group of Year 3 German students (or should I say enthusiasts?) set off to go to Berlin on a school trip for four days with the clear aim of improving their German. And of having just a little bit of fun. The trip was organised by the German department, and as every year, as all students say, it was a highlight of our school year. Throughout the four days we made some wonderful memories, visited an almost excruciatingly high number of museums that have, however, helped us gain some more knowledge and we do not regret visiting. One of the highlights was the DDR museum, which focused mainly on quite recent events that had happened in Berlin - from the end of WW II to the fall of the Berlin Wall. We visited many sights typical of Berlin and we were also able to discover Berlin by ourselves during our free time, which seemed to be especially popular amongst our year. We saw the Berlin Tower (Fernsehturm), which was almost essential to see, the remains of the Berlin Wall, Alexanderplatz, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. We also visited two flea markets, for which Berlin is famous, all of which persuaded us of the beauty of this city and gave us a sense of the culture in Berlin. This trip, in my opinion and also from what I have heard from my classmates, was a great success because not only did we spend some time with our friends and had wonderful new experiences, but we also got to brush up our German and we learned many new facts about the history of this city that affected the whole of Europe, including our own country, at that time. And for that we would like to thank the school.

Naše dobrodružství v Berlíně 2017
V pátek 28. května vyrazila skupinka studentů němčiny (skoro až nadšenců pro němčinu) na výlet do Berlína. Tato akce trvala 4 dny a měla za cíl nás obohatit v německém jazyce, v historii tohoto německého velkoměsta a v neposlední řadě nám dala příležitost trávit náš čas v přátelském prostředí našich spolužáků, kamarádů a učitelů. Toto dobrodružství bylo iniciativou oddělení německého jazyka ECP a jako každým rokem, jak ostatně říká mnoho studentů ECP,, bylo takzvanou třešničkou na dortu našeho školního roku. Během těchto čtyř dní jsme si stihli vytvořit nádherné vzpomínky, navštívili jsme skoro až nebezpečně vysoký počet muzeí, která nás velmi obohatila. Mnoho studentů shledávalo muzeum DDR jako nejpamětihodnější, jelikož se soustředilo na interaktivní představení relativně nedávných událostí po druhé světové válce až do pádu Berlínské zdi. Zároveň jsme navštívili neopomenutelné památky Berlína a byli jsme schopni poznat pravou atmosféru a kulturu tohoto města, díky volnému času, který byl obzvláště ocenili. Navštívili jsme Berlínskou věž, zbytky Berlínské zdi, Alexanderplatz, Brandenburskou bránu, budovu Reichstag a památník Židům. Dále jsme navštívili dva bleší trhy, které jsou mezi místními obyvateli velmi populární. Všechny tyto památky nás velmi obohatily, přesvědčily nás o kráse Berlína a dokázaly nám podat náhled do každodenního života v tomto městě. Letošní výlet do Berlína byl podle mého názoru (a také názoru mých spolužáků) výletem velmi povedeným, protože nejenom, že jsme měli tu příležitost trávit čas s našimi kamarády a tvořit nové vzpomínky, ale také se něco nového přiučit o německé kultuře, oprášit si naši němčinu, a v neposlední řadě, přiučit se něco nového o historii nejen Berlína, ale vlastně celé Evropy. Za to bych jménem naší třídy chtěla škole vyjádřit velké díky.

Nantes
We went to Nantes with my French class, Mr Bleaks and Ms Smetanková for the French exchange. The exchange lasted for one week, it was great! We flew to Paris where we visited the Eiffel Tower and walked around - it was the second time for me. At the weekend I went to the Tour de Bretagne with my exchange partner, then we had lunch at midday with the other Czech students in the city centre. On Sunday my host family took me to Guérande and afterwards we went to a beach called ‘La Baule’ where we ate gallettes and crepes - it was very good! We visited lots of beautiful places such as the Japanese gardens, the Castle, St Nazaire and we also tasted gâteau nantais at a famous restaurant called ‘La Cigale’. It tasted a little strange because there was some rum in it! My partner and her family were very nice; they also have a cat and she was very cute. The French exchange was my favourite school trip ever, it was a wonderful experience.

Nantes
Vyrazili jsme na výlet do Nantes s francouzskou třídou, panem Bleaksem a paní Smetankovou za účelem francouzského výměnného pobytu French Exchange. Výměna trvala jeden týden, a bylo to skvělé! Letěli jsme do Paříže, kde jsme navštívili Eiffelovu věž a prošli se kolem, bylo to pro mě druhý krát.
O víkendu jsme navštívili Tour de Bretagne s mým partnerem, pak jsme měli oběd v poledne s ostatními českými studenty v centru města.
V neděli mě hostitelská rodina odvezla do Guérande a poté jsme šli na pláž s názvem La Baule, kde jsme jedli galety a krepy, bylo to velmi dobré! Navštívili jsme spoustu krásných míst, jako jsou japonské zahrady, hrad, Saint Nazaire a také jsme ochutnali "gâteau nantais" ve známé restauraci "la cigale". Chutnalo to trochu divně, protože tam byl nějaký rum!
Můj partner a její rodina byli velmi milí, měli také kočku a byla velmi roztomilá. Francouzská výměna je můj nejoblíbenější školní výlet vůbec, byla to skvělá zkušenost.
