FWPS PRIDE WEEK

Pride month is a month to celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community.

This is for everybody to embrace who they are and let the world know in style.

The colours in the rainbow reflect the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community including all genders and their experiences.

At FWPS to show support for Pride Month we are hosting a Pride Week in Week 8 of this term. Each year level will have a different day to wear a splash of colour with their uniform to show their acknowledgement and support for Pride Month. As Monday is a public holiday, we will start on Tuesday.

  • Tuesday the 13/6/2023 will be the Grade 5 and 6 students
  • Wednesday the 14/6/2023 will be the Grade 3 and 4 students
  • Thursday the 15/6/2023 will be the Grade 1 and 2 students
  • Friday the 16/6/2023 will be the Prep students.

Please note that students will not be able to change their uniform, just add on a colourful accessory such as: a colourful hair tie or ribbon in their hair or around their wrist, bracelets, beanies, socks and earrings. No gold coin donation is required for this celebration.

NAIDOC Week Colouring Competition

NAIDOC Week occurs this year during the next school holidays (2nd July - 9th July 2023). NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. This week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The theme for NAIDOC Week this year is For Our Elders.

Like last year, we will be holding a voluntary school wide colouring in competition to celebrate NAIDOC Week. This year, the Marrung student representatives will be organising and judging the competition. One winner will be chosen from each grade. The winners will be presented at an assembly during Term 3 and will get their artwork proudly displayed around the school.

The Marrung leaders have provided each student with the colouring in page, and you can also find a digital copy below. We please ask that everyone writes their names on the back of the colouring, so the judges do not know the identity of the entrant.

Completed colourings are due at the end of Week 1, Term 3
