Year 9 Sculpture
Year 9 and 10 Northcote Model
Within this course students created 3D sculptures. In the initial lessons they created simple bird structures from paper and cardboard using slot and notch joining methods. They developed their skills as they constructed more complex and difficult designs such as the marine life sculptures - some of these had plastic surrounding the creatures that represented the pollution in the ‘Great Pacific Garbage Patch’.
The 3D People (Selfies) were created by students stuffing their own clothing with towels and pillows to develop their ability to think in 3D. Term 4 Head Sculptures were created using a mould method; by wrapping foil over their face and head then strengthening the mould with masking tape and paper mache. Detail and decorations were applied using wire, foil, paint and found objects.
