Foundation

Foundation students are learning about living things. Over the last two weeks, students showed what they have learnt about what living things need to stay alive and healthy. Students also explored the difference between our needs and wants.

Year 1/2

In term 2, Year 1/2 students are learning how and why substances can be combined. Students used words and pictures to record observations about mixing fluids (water, oil and detergent) and used a T-chart to sort different mixtures according to their purpose.

Year 3/4

In term 2, Year 3/4 students are learning that different living things have different life cycles and depend on each other and the environment to survive.  Students explored some relationships between different animals and eucalypt trees, identifying if the animals had positive, neutral or negative impacts on the tree. Students also ordered the life stages of eucalypt trees and described things that help or hinder growth.

Year 5/6

Students are learning that energy from a variety of sources can be used to generate electricity. Before attending school camp, students learnt what coal is, why we use it and how it is extracted. Students used a choc-chip biscuit as a model for a coal mine. Students drew an environment around their mine, then mined the biscuit for coal (choc- chips) and considered the impacts on their environment.
